Minister's Message June 2026
Dear Friends,
I’m convinced the months get shorter in church life. It hardly seems possible that we’re already writing the June newsletter! And yet here we are, with summer beginning to emerge around us and another busy, joyful month ahead in the life of our churches. This month, many of our students will be in the middle of exams. Cambridge at exam time can feel intense, exhausting, and overwhelming, and we hold all our students in our prayers. We pray for calm minds, clear thinking, good rest, and gentle encouragement in the middle of the pressure. More than grades or results, we want our students to know that they are valued, loved, and supported by this church community. If you know a student, a kind message, a coffee, or even just a simple “how are you doing?” can make a huge difference at this time of year. June also brings Cambridge Pride on the 13th, and Methodists will once again be present with a stall during the day. Pride is a celebration of dignity, welcome, inclusion, and community— values deeply rooted in the gospel itself. We pray for all those attending, for joyful and safe celebrations, and for opportunities to show the love of Christ through kindness, hospitality, and listening. In a world that can often feel divided and harsh, moments of welcome and acceptance matter deeply.
There is so much happening across Histon and Castle Street at the moment—worship, fundraising, student ministry, children’s work, pastoral care, planning meetings, and all the countless unseen acts of service that keep church life going. Sometimes it’s easy to focus only on what still needs to be done, but this month I encourage us all to pause and notice how much life there already is among us. God is at work in this community in so many quiet and faithful ways. As we move into summer, may we be people generous in love, courageous in hope, and ready to welcome others with joy.
With every blessing,
jenny
